Nikhil Koparkar is an award-winning composer and performing artist based in Los Angeles. Having toured around the US and India with his band, he started writing and producing music. He has created scores and songs for films, TV shows and games.
Some key mentions of Nikhil’s scores are Dead Whisper, The Flower of Battle, Yogurt Raisin, Artist Unknown, Running with the Wild and many others. Last year (2023), he wrote the official main theme for Riot Games’ League Of Legends – Lunar New Year Campaign, which is featured in all their videos, in-game, as well as the foundation for other composers’ music.
Nikhil has been influenced by many cultures which have found their place in his music. Since he moved to Los Angeles, he has worked on various projects through which he gained a foothold in the industry. He works as an additional composer with Lorne Balfe at 14th Street Music. They were writing and arranging music on TV shows like The Wheel Of Time, the acclaimed HBO fantasy series, His Dark Materials, the BBC drama, Sherwood and the Hulu docu-series, Victoria’s Secret: Angels & Demons.
His speciality of combining instruments from different cultures with a modern western cinematic palette led to an invitation to Talks At Google in 2019. During the interview he told us how important the role of books is in his musical journey. Before he starts working on any project, he thoroughly familiarizes himself with the characters and the plot. So it helps him convey the necessary emotions shown by the characters and general theme of the story.
